A view of a street in Madrid, on a Sunday morning. The city is famous for being crowded, but not all places are equally populated. In some old popular neighbourhoods, you can still find “emptiness” on a Sunday morning.

Emptiness does not necessarily have negative connotations, here it’s quite the opposite. We are so often surrounded by so many people, noises and movement, that we build a sort of inner armour under our skin, and eventually it becomes a part of us. We live amongst others, but in reality, we are lonelier.

Maybe walking down an empty street will make us realize that there is no real need for such an armour, so we can walk freely… and cease to be alone.
