This is a photograph from the “Plaza Mayor” in Madrid. People were working around the statue in the middle of the square. Something attracted my eye, and I took the shot. There isn’t really a situation, an event which is occurring, but there is clearly something of a balance, a stability and a harmony which is emanated from the geometry and the symmetry.
It’s almost impossible to express it with words, it is more of a sentiment, a feeling. The frame is divided horizontally and vertically in three bands. And there are three “people” in the center, each one corresponding to a specific level: the statue at the top, the guy on the wall and the standing guy at the bottom.
Everything seems to be in the right place, everything seems to be in order, and looking at the image makes me smile. Sometimes we just need this… a drop of order, balance and harmony. Nothing more.
